DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
A full developmental edit is for when you’re prepared to receive comprehensive insights on your draft, along with guidance and suggestions for how to begin a meaningful revision.
I read each manuscript twice; once for the pure experience of the story, and again with a steely-eyed focus on plot, pacing, world-building, characterization, logic, and more. My aim is to pinpoint the story elements whose enhancement will have the greatest impact on the overall narrative, and then devise strategies that will guide you in implementing the improvements.
What I deliver:
Editorial Notes: You will receive a 4 to 6-page set of editorial notes. These notes will serve as a roadmap for revision, pinpointing where adjustments can be made to strengthen the narrative.
Line Edits: I use Microsoft Word’s Track Changes feature to provide detailed comments and queries directly within the text. By delivering precise line edits, I can share specific ideas and suggestions exactly where they’re most relevant.
These annotations are as valuable as comprehensive editorial notes, with which they work in tandem to enhance the manuscript.
Collaborative Discussion: Following the delivery of the editorial feedback and in-line edits, we'll schedule a phone call. During our discussion, we’ll review the feedback in detail, work through questions, brainstorm ideas, and set the course for your revision.

MANUSCRIPT REVIEW
When your work in progress reaches a critical juncture and you're seeking relevant feedback before committing to a full developmental edit, a manuscript review is the ideal solution.
While undertaking this kind of assessment, I take a careful and deliberate read of the material, aiming to gain a deep understanding of what you want your story to deliver.
What I deliver:
Comprehensive Memo: Following the review, I provide a concise two or three-page memo. This memo outlines my overall impressions of the work, including aspects related to the premise, stakes, worldbuilding, overall marketability, and any other noteworthy points.
Discussion and Next Steps: After you've had a chance to review the memo, we'll schedule a discussion. During this conversation, we can delve into your story, go over the memo in detail, and explore options for your next steps.

LINE EDITING
A line edit is for a completed manuscript that you're looking to bring to the finish line.
What I deliver:
A line edit does more than polish; it clarifies, tightens, and brightens your story. This process involves refining sentence structure, eliminating repetition, pinpointing unnecessary exposition, and catching any lingering developmental issues or inconsistencies.
Delivery: Line edits are provided electronically using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes.

I can work with your author from acquisition through first pass, or on any discrete stage of publication, including line-editing and Americanization.
I am able to step in at imprints who have executive or senior staffers taking leave, ensuring that all projects remain on schedule, title information sheets are completed, and new properties are launched.
Schedule-depending, I may also be able to help out with urgent or time-sensitive projects.
